I am a small person and i dont really have a huge amount of upper body strength so suspect most people wouldnt find this an issue and this seems to be borne out by other reviews

They also keep you dry when it is windy due to the vent in the top the wind blows out and doesnt turn the umbrella upside down

When it is open you press a button to release it before u pull down the handlebar to close it

The only disadvantage is that if youre like me and you close the top but not always pull down the handle to make it short you cannot press the button again to open it

Very good quality umbrella but is not very good if you looking for small umbrella that fits you bag is too big so for the girls you will end up leaving it at home

The only design fault i found was after you close the umbrella with the push button you cant open it again with the button
