My kids use them both with lids and without lids, depending on their moods. My 3 year old grandson loves this cup.

Cons

The cup is basically useless without the lid. The sliding cover pops off too so that eliminates the leak-proof factor. The lids do not fit tight enough to stay on, therefore are not spill proof.

The stainless is strong, but noisy and dangerous when the kid throws it. I am afraid to let my toddlers use them because they will * the paint. All in all it's a mediocre product.
