When the lantern is set up it emits a bright glow and while it is closed it creates a spotlight

The light in lantern mode is not overpoweringly bright and the flashlight mode gives you a nice 45 foot circle of light on the ground if you are of average height

I cant express how bright and i doubt the pictures show very well oh see the pictures
