It's wicked bright with fresh aaa's. Nice to have a battery saver option if ultra bright isn't needed. Good battery life and three brightness setting. Plus has med and low setting.
The coast headlamp is much brighter than many other products on the shelf. The headband holds the light onto your head effectively, and the light fits comfortably against your forehead, even when wearing it for hours. Thick, securely fitting strap.
Coast is still my favorite headlight, with relatively cheap energizer lamps following behind. This lamp cost less, is simple to use, and worth every dime.
The brightest setting is extremely powerful. It's brighter than most flash lights.

Coast headlamps are great until they quit working generally about 6 months after purchase

Ive gone through several and could probably have gotten some satisfaction through their customer service support but why bother when the next one you get will just quit working for absolutely no reason 6 months later

Loved the brightness the ability to narrow or widen the beam and basically everything about it except the lifecycle is too short considering the price
