I received a copy of this book as a present and thus met a new author, whose work I greatly enjoyed. It is quite a tightrope to walk when writing about family troubles but still have humour, love and warmth present. The troubles were realistically portrayed but so was the hope and human connection.The only thing that jarred with me was at the end when the self-focussed husband told his undervalued wife that he and the teenage children had let her down; his wife responded that they hadn't and she had been hypersensitive. They had let her down! She was supposed to have grown in her self-worth over the course of the book, and yet here she was taking the blame on herself; not a healthy response or a good way to stop them treating her like a doormat!   Read Less
