The click lock works great i shortened it to dust ceiling fan blades then extended it for a light fixture in the stairwell

Also im 62 so i have to extend it nearly all the way to use it comfortably at a good angle with a hardwood floor attachment

Its a great tool the only thing is the adjuster is on the bottom part i have to bend over to get it to adjust

There is no locking mechanism so you do have to push the wand onto the hose securely and itll fall off if youre not paying attention

I have a kirby sentra i bought at a divorce sale but it was missing the extension wand and a few other pieces
