I found that it worked best when the item needing magnification was placed inside the plastic end and the microscope was placed directly over a flat surface like a table

If you have to hold this in your hand while trying to magnify something the focus would be shifting because no one can keep their hand completely still and it would go in and out of focus

This works well but when they say fits in your pocket they mean super tiny
