The mouth nozzle folds back which kinks off a rubber tube inside the lid that acts as a valve to close it off when your done drinking

Right next to the hinge the rubber tube develops wrinkles which eventually tears into a hole over time see photo

Instead you have to repurchase the entire cap currently 9 which isnt worth it considering youd have to buy a couple per year depending on the use
