They ratchet well and can hold a considerable width of hose coiled up, but they do have a weak point.

I bought a couple for all my technicians to keep their air hoses in order, and most of them snapped in the first week.

You can modify the hinge (even after it breaks) with a couple washers and appropriate length screw with nut.
