The firmware that it came with was the older version so i downloaded the updated firmware from the buffalo website and the upgrade went smoothly

I do have an it background and i did buy it specifically to experiment though so if the thought of upgrading firmware and configuring vlans vaps and dhcp scares you then this is probably not the router for you
