The louver doors keep debris out when im doing other work around the bench it also controls the power so theres no load when nothing is being used

Since then the usb cords are removed the door shuts and cuts the power to the internal transformer so unlike other chargers it doesnt sit there wasting energy as heat keeping the primary transformer coil charged when you are not charging any devices

Since mine is over the kitchen counter i also like that the springloaded door keeps splatters and dust from getting into the contacts when its not being used

I have been using a 4 port that you plug into a regular electrical outlet and it was fine but after time it needs to have the electrical prongs pulled apart to make it stay tight
