It works as youd expect namely the outside shell parts independently to allow you to size it to fit a drawer thats wider than the closed width of the organizer

Unfortunately my drawers dont allow it to expand to its full potential but thats okay because it can be used in just about any size drawer for that reason

I do think that it is in fact not 100 bamboo so for that i will leave 4 stars i believe that the base is made of something else

It expands wide enough to accommodate most things in my drawer i had to add another organizer off to the side

Either way this is extremely good quality and allows you to set it up the way you want to not a preset standard way the makers assume you want

The tray i had before this one was standard sized but practically swam around in my drawer and had just the basic silverware holding spots leaving much stuff unorganized and sitting on the outsides of the tray cluttering the whole thing up
