If the light is already on during the failure it lights up again immediately

So for example if the power failure occurs at night when you are sleeping when you get up in the morning your light will switch on normally even though the power is out

If the lamp was on and the bulb was lit while the power was on it just continues burning uninterrupted

What it does not do is automatically turn on when there is a power failure which is what the ads led us to believe
