    Four stars one removed cause there is something on the rock that needed scraped off before the rock would emit the sparks required of it

    You have to scrape through the outer black coating until you get to the shiny part before it will begin to spark

    It is not intended to be a primary fire starter but a back up and it fills that need

    As others have said in other reviews you have to get through the outer coating first before it will make good sparks
