Pros & Cons
Pros
Followed instructions and work fine. Backlighting is bright enough in the evening, and the font used is easy to read at a glance. Nice to show off home brew test gear.
Wiring and solder are all that's needed to make this project a reality. All you need is an 8wood aluminum box, a 4. Solder iron and a label maker. You'll need a datum and a data cable or wires to connect to this project. For more information on this p... Read More
Cons
Meter shows crazy amp/watt/power numbers when i connect one battery that is about 60% discharged. This is a 7% discrepancy when it claims 1% accuracy.
Frame around display is too small and obscures display. No way to surface-mount. Need to cut rectangular hole in dashboard. Poor quality makes it worthless for most applications.
It was hooked up correctly and worked fine for a few hours but was blank the next morning. There’s no backlight or numbers displayed.
Highlights
Quality
Used by me to test batteries how much their content is
Been using this heavily for battery capacity monitoring and it has been working flawlessly
It worked good for few months and then the amperage numbers are 0
You cant just let the shunt float around into things possibly short and cause a disaster it needs something for a mount
Price
Worth the price for monitoring battery discharge currentwatts
It’s just a great diagnostic to have and at this price point a must have
All told they are good value for the price
Shipping
Edit the seller contacted me and offered a full refund without requiring to send back the unit
Packaging/appearance
Packaged properly easy to follow instructions and works perfectly
Competitiveness
I have several 12 volt battery chargers some new pieces of junk imho and some older searsshaeffer 21050 amp taper chargers
The voltage measurement is spot on and within 1 compared to other professional tools im using
35x when compared to three different other sources of current measurement

The voltage reads slightly higher than it actually is

Got this for a boat motor battery so i’ll have to be careful to stop using the battery before the voltage drops to damaging levels

This does not show negative amps so i don’t know how much power or energy is going back into my battery when charging

Therefore using longer wires will resultin in adding additional impedance and falsifying amperes reading numbers will be significantly lower than real ones

Meter shows zero until certain current level is met

Instructions should make a note of that with a big red letters

I wish it would show charged power as well

When charging the power goes to zero not how much charge is going in
