Pros

This radio is a great starter radio for the new operator. Great for those who don't have all the money in the world to drop on sick gear. Already had a baofeng for myself, bought a spare and one for my son.

The radio is great for the frequencies it can transmit on. Easy to buy a cheap extened antenna to extend range even farther. The external mic keys up on band b even if you have band a selected. Check for a list of amateur radio repeaters in your area.... Read More

For the price, these things are solid performers. The battery life is exceptional and take several hours to recharge. The cases are rugged.

Comes with programming cables, basic set up instructions, speaker and ear piece. Only negative is the instructions are inadequate, and it took me two weeks to figure out how to program it.

Cons

Tid radio is known for making copies, counterfeits, and fakes. Spend the few extra bucks for products from a reputable manufacturer. Do but uv82 from sellers who are truthful in their advertising.

The docs say to use chirp to program. The baofeng software is very user unfriendly. Zero starts if i had the choice.

I bought a much better quality one for programming but in reality the one that came with the radios is adequate

I could not copy the programming from my other uv82hp btech version 8 watt radios because of the firmware mismatch
