the BackTrac, with those 32 or 34 very firm foam balls...is, i don't know, complex to describe. the foam balls might feel nicer if they were halfway between the fairly soft foam beCalm balls and the firm foam balls on this device, but the firmness of them allows them to impose and even encroach upon the body. physics: something is going to give, and with the BackTrac, it's the body that gives, in a good if not always completely comfortable way. when you roll on these, especially the two large foam balls at the top, (it feels like) they press into the back really deep and make an impact.comparing the BackTrac with the hard plastic Trueback: you lay back against the Trueback and impose yourself onto it, pretty much independent of how much you weigh, while your back (con)forms to the arc of it, but it is more surface-to-surface. the BackTrac, however, imposes itself into your back getting some of the fine adjustments you can only get at the chiropractor and that are missed by the Trueback. one device is like the antithesis of the other. so even though i didn't particularly LOVE the way the BackTrac felt--it was a little intense--it was pretty good, and when i got off of it, i felt really great, especially alternating between the Trueback and the BackTrac. i definitely like the results it produced! it should increase circulation and bring blood to the skin surface, which i presume would also be good for circulation of the craniosacral fluid, but i don't know. it also is more therapeutic for the neck than than the Trueback, is highly interactive with the neck and cervical area, giving the user a lot of control. where the Trueback leaves off, the BackTrac picks up, and vice-versa. they are a great pair!okay, so weight probably also plays a big role with the experience of using the BackTrac. the heavier you are, the more it is going to impose the firm foam balls into your body, so perhaps a heavy person will get more out of using it than a skinny person. if a person was really light, the contact between the body and the foam balls would be much more surface-to-surface. when i got off of this thing, i felt like i'd had a real massage, even though it didn't feel anywhere as good as a massage while using it.another distinction is that the BackTrac would be easier for more people to like. personally, i could sleep on the Trueback, have fallen asleep on it many times--have to keep myself from doing that to prevent overstretching the back muscles--but for people who are kind of crunched in or humped over, the Trueback can be excruciating, as it forces the back into what i think of as an extended or hyper curvature. a friend of mine thinks laying on the Trueback is sheer torture, but i'm pretty sure she would like the BackTrac, as it is more forgiving. in my mind, in my life, i think they are perfect together, and don't want to be without either one.
