The scent is maybe a faint menthol but not bad. The smell is mild and it is perfectly safe for my toddler. She lets me rub in the lotion and then i use a damp towel after.

Cons

The bottle warns against eye irritation but not enough. It's thick and prickly on my skin. Does not work at all for mosquitos.

I can't return it because it's an outsourced retailer. I'm not sure what their expiration policy is but 3 months is not long enough. Its pricey for only a 4 oz.
