It doesnt melt because of your body heat and migrate into your eyes

But if you have dry undereyeeyelid area a gel texture is not going to be super moisturizing

However i still found myself rubbing my eyes way too much after using this and feeling my eyes get dry and itchy that was unfortunate

Oh and it doesnt pill if u use it underneath a sunscreen which i feel like is necessary since theres retinol in it
