    I was mistakenly expecting a reading of 20 brix, so i was confused to see the actual reading which was 16.

    I spent an hour thinking that maybe the device was not calibrated or there was problem with my sugar or water.

    Then i realized that the actual calculation should have been sugar / (water + sugar), so it was 20/(100+20) = 16.
