I wanted to get an automatic feeder mainly for when we are on vacation and need to feed my outside cats. After looking at several different models I settled on this one. I have 2 cats so I wanted a hopper based feeder instead of the round rotating design.It looks fairly well built and work as intended. The programming wasn't too terrible, but pushing on the buttons are a little finicky. I found that if you push and a short hold works the best. Quick taps don't always register.The meal feeder portion size is around 10g of food which really isn't much. But it allows you to set how much food is dispensed at a time (up to 39 or so). There is a music alarm, or even a voice message. I did not try either of these options as the sound of the food hitting the tray is usually enough for the cats to know when to dig in.All in all, it does what it claims. However it did not meet my needs.One of the issues with this item is the small food tray attached. You are allowed to dispense up to 400g of food, but the tray can only handle 90-100g before it starts backing up. In my first photo of the food tray, this is only 4 servings or 40g of food. It practically fills the tray. The later photo is after 10 servings (100g) which some of the food is pushed up in the slot. For one cat this is more than enough, however for 2 cats or more it starts to become an issue. You would have to do some creative rigging (like suspending the unit over a larger bowl) or schedule multiple feedings apart from each other, etc. Typical adult cat requires around 50-70g of dry food a day. So if you feed twice a day, it would need 100g-140g of food each meal (for 2 cats).Now I understand it may have not been designed for multiple cats, which is why I stated it did not meet my needs, but it may for you. Just understand the limitations of the unit.Oh, and I was using this outside under a covered porch (the unit isn't exposed to rain). However the cats realized there is more food in the chamber (as well as the raccoons) and this thing would get toppled nightly. It is tall and can be easily tipped over. It might need something heavy to anchor it.  Read Less
