You can see good distance with iti would say as good as you eye can see kind of but its harder because that infrared light can only reach that 60ish feetlater im gonna see if i can get some bigger ir light with more distance so that will help

But this gen 1 works if you want to identify someonesomething at a decent distance with that ir turned on without being seen or maybe if its a great full moonmaybe even half moon then it can work on its own

The infrared illuminator works fine to a distance of around 50 feet however this unit does not have any magnification so a crystal clear focus reaches out to around 35 feet but you can still make out what is in front of you at greater distances

I also tried looking down the sights of a rifle without a scope but the built in illuminator reflected too much against the barrel and the focus did not allow for immediate and mid range clarity i

My unit came with a few and very small black specks that if i shift my attention to them i can see very easily this however does not effect my vision when looking through the unit at something
