I found it had to be coaxed a bit to point to the north but it did it after a couple of taps

Beautiful little compass works well you can even test it by putting your phone near it then away you can see the magnetic field being affected

Not sure if the white ring on the outside with degrees is supposed to glow in the dark cant remember what the description said either way mine doesnt
