Bought the 5lb bad boy. Ok so anyone that is a railroader working the road knows that you pack your road lunch box with 2-3 days worth of food. Sushi for dinner.
Artic ice is my go-brand for cooling blocks. Buy both the tundra and alaska for best cooler life. Use a mix of tundra, alas alaska and regular ice. I live in phoenix, my cooler mostly stays in my van.
Ice packs work like a champ when frozen and used properly! It lowers the freezing temperature of water. It also means it will thaw faster than the other ones.
Cons
Maybe my new kenmore freezer is just too proletariat for these wine cave ice packs. They slosh very freely when i take them out. Pelican ice and another off brand freeze like glaciers.
The product says you need 2-4 to keep a mid sized cooler all day. The other 3 are useless. They're worthless unless you're on a desert island and willing to drink the questionable magic juice inside of them.

Downside to the ice pack is that you have to give it about 36 hours to completely freeze and get solid
