Pros & Cons
Pros
When all done, this thing is a monster. Luckily, it seems to have worked marvelously. This product is worth every penny. This goes against arctic's recommendations but it has been working fine for me.
Installation is not for the faint of heart. Smaller brackets intersect the path for the mounting holes for the arctic's mounting plate. Plus spacer washers and super long stud mounting posts.
Took my old card apart down to the bare pcb, marked off on the plastic sheet where to apply the thermal pads/tape (place the blue tape on the back of the pcb wherever there's a vrm or vrm) and then put it all together again. The kit comes with enough ... Read More
The armor series card has an extremely anemic cooler that had my gpu hitting above 80c during 1440p and higher resolution gaming. This thing still has some headroom and is relatively future-proofed, at least for nvidia cards. I have a gigabyte gtx 107... Read More
It is so much quieter than the stock blower was. I have the aorus 4gb version and those fans are loud! Also, the card is pretty much silent in my case.
Cons
Due to the high vrm temps the card would throttle and micro stutter. If hotter in room i have to have side of computer case off and turbine fan blowing on it. The card is too wide to work with support bracket and top heat sink.
Highlights
Quality
Again i am really satisfied with the purchase
I was contemplating either to go with the nzxt bracket with an aio or just try to upgrade the fan i know overkill and im glad i... Read More
There were no instructions at all with the arctis xtreme iv that i purchased
Installation is easy a little bit long because of the size of the product
Price
I was even able to cut and attatch the stock msi led
Works like a charm and was able to keep my stock evga sc2 backplate temps are at 60c under load and gpu core boost to 1949mhz to 1974mhz
Packaging/appearance
The gpu is further back on the evga card so the cooler does not directly locate itself over the card
Turns out one of my mobo heatsinks was blocking the back bracket by a few millimeters
I have the aorus 4gb version and those fans are loud
Competitiveness
I have a coolermaster 212 which made me wary of the back bracket heatsink and its clearance
I swapped a stock evga 660 ti cooler and got my temps down from the low 90°c range to the low 60°c range
This would not fit on my board with a noctua nhd15s
An evga gtx 970 sc is apparently not a reference card
