Required this to convert a rode mic signal from a 2 ring (3 pole) 1/8 male trs plug into a 3 ring (4 pole) 1/8 female trss port for the an iphone x adapter that converts 1/8 to lightning spade connector.

Tried same with another similar product (small 90 deg connector ) with same specs and it would not work.
