The characters are all vividly fleshed out and nuanced and the story which jumps between london florida and the island of st andrews in the caribbean takes you on an exploration of the mountains and caves at either the end or beginning of the world depending on which side youre coming from

But the narrator lenny henry does a bangup job with a huge range of characters and voices and accents so many that without the voice talent it would be hard to keep the story straight

Of course the workaday world is blissfully unaware of all this leaving the protagonists to rush around in their bizarre bubble of magical infestation while the occasional innocent bystander scratches his head bemusedly
