I love to read and i have found that this tri-tilt adjustable stand works best for me in either the top or second notch, depending on how far away from me i place it on the table.

This is the best way to get an ergonomic set-up when using a laptop with an external keyboard, but no external monitor.

The parts that stick out at the bottom to hold the bottom edge of the laptop are not huge, and it is possible for a large laptop to slip off of them if you set it carelessly, or adjust your screen angle without holding the lower part of the laptop steady.
