    It also had slime on the bottom and that's the first i've seen of that.

    I have two older tanks that have been running high on the nitrate chart, and no matter how much i clean them or do water changes, the level never goes down.

    That being said; if your nitrate levels are off the charts (higher than 80ppm), this is not a cure all for you and there are most likely other problems with your tank and/or set up.

    If you are getting a thick coating of goo and/or slime on your algone package, this means your water is disgusting and needs to be changed - algone will not fix this.
