First of all any fan level above the lowest which is f1 is too loud

Also the hygrometer within the device is off by 10 humidity i have a hygrometer on the piano that shows the actual humidity in the room so i go by that

I have no problems filling the unit with water there is a small door on the front that you open and poor into

I put it on a higher fan speed initial ly to get the humidity level up but its been on the lowest speed for six days and its barely audible
