I wore them on a short excursion for hiking in michigan to see if they would need breaking in before costa rica but it was unnecessary because they fit with just enough room for a thick wool sock

I thought that they might smell on the airplane from being wet muddy and worn for so long in the hot costa rican terrain but they had no lingering smells or moisture
