This device has hdmi in and out hdmi so the quality is pretty much the same and clear

Using a displayport adapter to hdmi i have split off the digital audio with the agptek device to spdif and hdmi to my monitor

I also bought agptek 3 port hdmi switch for home theater which works great too

Both work great with old soundbar and older surround sound

I have a newer roku ultra with no spdif optical out

I have two of these one on roku and one on firestick
