This thing moves some serious air

Fan is very strong and the air movement itself can be pretty loud but the motor is totally silent

I suspect the noise complaints come from folks who are using uninsulated plastic flex duct where the ridges catch the air and cause turbulence within the duct

As far as fan controllers are concerned amazon and the manufacturer push you toward a wallwart style controller

Even though the vent is 10 up you can feel the air coming out of the unit when standing below outside where you will also hear most of the sound it generates
