For my applications i chose this pro mini form factor over the nano form factor as its obviously smallerplusunlike chinesemade nanos the pro mini does not have a usb interface and thus does not have a ch340 usb chip requiring drivers of questionable origin

These conveniently come with male headers 12pin straight for each of the pro minis side contacts and a 6pin angle for the programming contacts

I got these when xcsource was having a promotion essentially selling each pro mini for less than 2 bucks

Some of the better pro minis have the a47 breakouts located on the leading edge where the reset button sits to make them breadboard compatible but this is purely based on sparkfuns reference design
