Aqua Pure AP 802-1 water filter system 45GPM HOW TO STOP WATER LEAK FROM WATER FILTER07/23/2014.I wrote this review because in the past when purchasing an item through Amazon I always checked out the reviews andhave found that they have helped me makemy decision in a purchase. On June 30 2014 my posted a review,Again the only short coming of the filter is that the filter cap does not have Brass Thread Inserts built in the cap. The filtercap is replaceable (part #6889932). Filter cap is made of soft polypropylene,the threads are dip. When you insert a brass fitting(threads are shallow) as gap will be present between the threads as they are dissimilar material a leak will occur. This only flawcan be rectified by doing the following and then you will have a great water filter system without any leaks.If you wrap poly tape around the brass threads fitting you will lose grasp and create a round surface and it will not work and consequently will leak.The best and most practical solution to stop the water from leaking is to use a very inexpensive, non toxic sealant, which is also made of polypropylene and it never dries. Example of brand: You will find this under the following name,Pipe Thread Sealant T plus 2.How to apply Tplus2Filter cap - with a finger fill the threads with the Teflon paste evenly.Brass Fitting - apply Teflon paste evenly filling all the threads.Inserting the fitting - gently insert the brass fitting in the filter cap until you feel that you have a grab connected. Now make sure to give exactly (4) full turns of the brass fitting into the filter cap.The brass fitting will expel the excess Teflon paste, as you insert the treads. Then clean all around and leave the fitting area spotlessly clean.Checking for leaks - slowly open the water valve until the filter is full, then open maximum once the filter is full. Going through this stage will prevent the water from bursting inside the water filter damaging the cartridge.If the filter cap by chance is sweating (water coming in small drops) just give another 1/4 turn on the brass fitting.DO NOT USE PLUMBERS PUTTY as it is not for drinking water.Doing the above steps will help you in solving the issue of the leaking.Lucas06/302014. This is not a cheap water filter housing, but in my opinion it is a benchmark for whichyou measure any other filter on the market in a quality of product. However, the water caphas its short comings,but overall it is one of the best you can purchase at the moment.Filter cap, is made of white polypropylene(# 6889932), soft material so you must be carefulwhen handling the threads when you insert brass fittings. The cap will leak, the only way aroundthis fault is to use (must) pipe thread sealant T plus 2. This is a Teflon paste sealer,non -toxic, and will stop any leaking in/on the threads.O-ring gasket is available on the internet [...] and you can purchase a dozen for under $25.00 whichamounts to $1.80 a piece plus shipping, good deal. You must always have extra availablein case the O-rings ruptures you have an immediate replacement,.My tip, buy one 1 water inlet if your house water input is under 1, then put reduction on thefilter cap, if youre installing 2 or more between filters use 1 pipe to eliminate loss of water pressure.On the last filter reduce back to the house water plumbing.Lucas  Read Less
