The proper way to insert an anchor is to use an awl to make a hole in drywall or plaster not a drill

After anchor is inserted into a hole made by awl that is slightly smaller than anchor allowing the anchor to be pushed into hole about ¾ way with fingers until it stops

They have any size you are likely to need and great if you have something that requires wall anchors but either did not come with any or came with really cheap crappy ones
