Being a recent convert to Yerba mate tea bags I transitioned into the more traditional approach to drinking this nectar of the Gods. These bombillas work great. They are manufactured well and draw a lot of attention in the office. They do the job they were designed for very well. But...Pssst, I would like to share a secret. I still use this type of bombilla regularly, but I am beginning to prefer the spring type. The first sip has a bit of residue, but the flow through the spring following that seems completely unobstructed. The spoon type seem to take a bit more effort to draw liquid through. But of course, that depends on the Yerba Mate brand and the blend of sticks and coarseness of the leaf processing. But these work great and do the job well. I had never had Yerba Mate Tea before until my husband & I bought our home last year. There is a little old lady who lives across the street who invites me over for tea all the time. Her husband passed a few years ago, so she enjoys my company, as I do hers. She told me that Yerba mate tea is a South American beverage made by steeping the ground leaves and stems of the yerba mate plant. She has a very specific way of making this tea which I rather enjoyed watching her make. She showed me that the tea is to be sipped out of a bombilla gourd drinking straw that filters the tea as you drink it. I was so intrigued by this and by the rustic equipment she used in the preparation of the tea. So, when I was offered the opportunity to purchase 2 yerba mate bombilla gourd drinking straws at a slightly reduced price in exchange for my honest opinion, I was thrilled.As soon as they came in the mail, I immediate headed across the street to visit my tea buddy. She was so overjoyed that I had thought of her when ordering these straws, she gave me a huge hug! She then proceeded to make us both some tea and use our new straws together. We had a nice long conversation and we both absolutely loved the straws! They are very modern but still hold true to the rustic design of her original straws. To give them an added flare, they are gold tipped. The holes at the bottom of the bombilla straw are very, very tiny so all of the tea gets filtered out. Plus, it's such a simple design that it's very easy to clean.In my honest opinion, this bombilla straw is excellently crafted and works exactly as it should. In addition, I think this straw could also be used with regular loose tea if you are not privy to yerba mate tea. Overall, it was a wonderful product, simple to use and easy to clean. And it made my tea buddy very happy! I would definitely recommend it for it's modern twist on a an old utensil that works fabulously!  Read Less
