As i was heating up water for the mash and later cooling the wort i used my digital infrared thermometer and directed the laser at the tip of the 1 x brewcraft 12 ss' dial thermometer which appeared to read the same temperature that the digital one was indicating.

Well, don't disrespect your equipment and you won't have these problems.

Someone else said it fogged up at 212 f.

I didn't have this problem, but i don't see how it matters, seeing as though the laws of physics dictate that the temperature of liquid h2o can never exceed the boiling point (and that only boiling water is generally ever added for subsequent step infusions anyhow).

May be off about 10 degrees unless the rules of physics cease to apply in my kitchen: water boils at 210 degrees.

I'm using it in a gluepot, it's a bit too long and i have to prop it up but that's my fault for not checking.

We purchased this to use for homebrewing when our previous thermometer was reading widely inaccurate.
