Microphone performs as expected. It performs good enough to be used for home and small gathering. For the price it puts a smile on your face and is fun. It works perfectly.
Great mic for the price. Connected direct to machine mk3 no hassle. Recorded soprano(first time since playing it in hs) this mic sounds amazing!
It has to be held very firmly in place and even then has a very shaky connection. You have to have your mouth literally against the mic for it to pick anything up. Ended up just talking loudly instead of using the microphone.
The shure is a cardioid dynamic mic. If you aren't in a supremely sound proofed environment, say a bedroom you've done no sound dampening to, this is fantastic. Xlr connection is good, and it fits the holder it came with.
It's also indestructible. It is durable, and has superb sound. Sturdy and reliable.
If you are on a really tight budget, the sm48 is also a very good microphone. The sm58 is the gig/live/rehearsal mic of choice any day. It's a classic and there's a reason it's a standard in the industry.
Why drive a pinto when you can drive a cadillac?
No real texture, doesn't grab you, very poor tradoesn't convey any feeling at all. They also feedback all too easily for a working band (high end feedback issues) horrible sound.
The sm58 is the most overrated mic ever made.
