The rods are like tv antennae and screw into the light fixture. The (+) symbol is to change the brightness of the light. The timer is very user-friendly with three options 4h, 9h, and 12 h photoperiod. They have adjustable light modes and brightness.

The usb cords are 8ft long and they come with a brick. Just plug in to use. They also come with the power box, which is noticeably missing from some of the competitor products.

As someone who’s used a ton of various plant lights over the years, the flickering is usually the first indication that the light is on the way out. Brightness isn't bright at all.
