The idea is to get the whole assembly of straps underneath the mattress. When all of the straps are attached just start tightening the adjustments until there's enough tension to keep the sheet in place. You can also tighten them up.

Straps are very adjustable so you can choose how elastic you want them to be. Even works on memory foam mattresses. Has metal teeth for great grip. Stretch is adjustable.
