They're formed and finished very nicely. It really looks like a craftsman took some care in making this set. It has a nice finish and the pieces look nicely finished.
The board is really smooth with no cracks between the squares. It's absolutely perfect for kids (or adults) who are just getting into chess or want to.
Even the metal plates under the cardboard top weren't glued it. There's glue there, but they didn't press the plates into the glue. Sent back for a partial refund.
Staunton’s pieces are very light and cheap. Pieces are uneven on bottom. Play pieces are ok, maybe worth the price, but sloppy.
