expected them to be prepared to host a large number of people in a short space of time and for the staff to have had a full briefing on pre orders and how the day was going to run Let’s just say I left with a bitter taste in my mouthnnThe food let me start with however was brilliant The beef I had was cooked to perfection and the trimmings were all well cooked and seasoned Starter and dessert were both good and great were portion sizes nnI’m hoping that this review can be reviewed by management and put to good use for training going forwards I do think that some of the things I’m about to list are due to poor management and not lazinessnnFirstly I noticed that the girl behind the bar and her colleague were picking up clean glasses by the rim so that their thumb was inside the rim of the glass She also mumbled a lot under her breath not great for partly deaf customers of which we had two in the party and slumped behind the bar whilst drinking her drink in front of customers I can understand that no one really wants to work on Christmas day but it is part of the catering industry and if you aren’t fully committed and don’t realise that then you should be working in another industrynnThe person pouring the prosecco at the table should have worked out how many people were at the table and calculated accordingly as each glass had a different amount in The waitress didn’t have a white napkin for each hand to protect her from the heat of the plates so had to awkwardly lean over and through everyone to serve two plates that were attached by one napkin My grandma’s gravy almost ended up in her lap She graciously apologised but there should have been enough spare in the kitchen for her to not run shortnnMy mother had selected this establishment based purely on the good vegan and gluten free menus My mother had selected the beef as it was listed as gluten free on the pre order menu When we arrived there were pre order cards in front of each setting but nothing specifying any dietary requirements and I can only image that there wasn’t a list for the servers to check in the kitchen of what each table was getting My mother’s beef arrived and she had to check that it was gluten free The server didn’t know so took it back to the kitchen It came back as the same dish but the chef had just removed the large and I should mention delicious Yorkshire pudding Now that is cross contamination and if she were celiac then she could have been in real trouble They didn’t have a substitute which I thought was poor If you’re going to list something as gluten free you should specify that you’re not getting the whole dish if you have dietary requirementsnnMy sister who is vegan each to their own ordered the chocolate tart which she also checked with the waitress if it was vegan She said she didn’t know and that also went back to the kitchen Turns out they’d given her the wrong onennWhen we had finished and headed back into the barlounge area there was a table with tea coffee and mince pies We had seen that this came included in the £85 per person package but were never offered by any waiting staff that this was available The girl behind the bar offered a group of four tea and coffee but didn’t bat an eyelid at our party The mince pies I was told were lovely However the tea was cold and didn’t get refilled or checked during the whole time we sat there and the coffee had run out and wasn’t refillednnProbably the worst Christmas experience I’ve ever hadreviewrating30sentimentclasspositivesentimentresult07915585376470589sentimentbreakdownMy family and
