My kids and I went out with Darren for a 3 hour tour on Aug 6th in a Prince of Whales zodiac and it was awesome! Super fun and we saw a pod of orcas near Sooke and a humpback whale on the way home. Our expectations on a three hour tour were exceeded.  First our captain, Austin, was an inspired  teacher and skillful in spending us through choppy waters.  He went out of his way to do whatever he could to help us see Orcas that had been sighted to the north.  He warned that it would be a mission and double checked to see if anyone had a timeline.The float suits Prince provided were exactly right--without them, we would have been really cold and uncomfortable.  We were quickly issued our suits, given instructions on how to put them on, stored our gear and were settled in the 12 passenger rigid hull inflatable within 15 minutes.  Once we were out of the harbor, the chase was on.  I love speed boats, and this boat flew.  I also felt 100% safe, and our captain had emphasized a thumbs down hand signal if we needed it; no one did.  Truly, I found myself smiling and laughing out loud when I took a bit of spray in the face.Not only did we get beautiful views of Vancouver Island and the surrounding islands, we saw two pods of orcas and trailed them from a legal distance for at least 20 minutes.  It was a remarkable experience, and our captain shared what he knew about the whales in the generous way that people who love their work share.  It was time to head back, but I asked if the captain knew of any eagle hang outs--within 20 minutes the boat was crawling near an area he was sure we'd see the resident eagle.  No luck.  But we saw seals and heard a great story about a wolf who swam to the island about 2-3 years ago and remains there.If you're looking for a more sheltered tour with cover from the weather and bathrooms, don't go on a Zodiac tour--try one of Prince's bigger boats.  We found the more water-intensive experience exactly to our liking.We highly recommend Prince of Whales--our tour was the highlight of an already outstanding trip to Victoria.  I can't wait to do this again.  Read Less
