Yellowstone NP: conveniently locatedThe Old Faithful Lodge offers no rooms for let but do have cabins available. Some have private bathrooms and some with only a sink (community bathroom building with private shower stalls a short walking distance away). A few are single units, many are duplex cabins, a few are quads. They have a variety of bed arrangements, including just twin beds or a twin and double bed. The units were just refurbished in 2016 and ours was basically furnished with a desk, chair, suitcase stand, a few hangers and rack, and a period styled electric fan that worked well. An ice bucket can be filled from a nearby vending machine. No air conditioning, coffee pot, tv, or free wifi. Thick towels are included though, and the comfy mattresses are padded and triple sheeted with nice thread count, hefty sheets. Zanterra, who manages the park properties, makes an effort to be sustainable and leaving a soft footprint. Air might have flowed better through the cabin to cool off in the evening if the third window wasn't stuck in the closed position. It was a short walk to view Old Faithful Geyser and access the Lodge gift shop and cafeteria (get their rich, soft serve ice cream!). Historic Old Faithful Inn, the Yellowstone Art and Photography Center (free art lessons and art talks), several more dining and shopping options are also located close by, as are the extensive boardwalk trails through the Upper Geyer Basin. I found out that a specific cabin can be reserved in advance. Advance booking for all reservable lodgings in the park, from tent sites to hotel suites, opens on May 1st for the following calendar year. With just a few months advance planning this year, it was slim pickings. Up to two dogs are allowed in the cabins for a flat $25 fee for the length of your stay. Dogs are not allowed on boardwalks or trails in the national parks but there are lots of paved roads, parking lots, and cement walkways here in the Old Faithful area. Out of the variety of lodgings we have stayed at, including Fishing Bridge RV Campground, a cabin at Canyon, and the Old Faithful Inn, I think I like this location best. There's lots to see and do on site and within a few miles. You can take short hikes to the observation point at Old Faithful or take a quick drive to see Grand Prismatic Spring, now with a new trail up to a panoramic view of the Spring and Midway Basin. Great family location. Free parking is included but you do have to pay for the national park entrance fee. Would stay again in cooler weather (closed October-April). Read Less
