{"reviewer_id":"6A2D30787826DBA2F03CB3BF684C329E","reviewer_name":"Joel K","review_text":"My wife and I stayed at the Ko'a Kea for 4 nights while on Kauai for our honeymoon. We loved the boutique feel of the Ko'a Kea as well as the 5 star service we received and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quieter boutique hotel with great service.\n\nWhen we were deciding between this hotel and the Hyatt, we went with this one and certainly believe we made the right choice. I can't say anything bad about the Hyatt because we didn't stay there but we did stay at the one in Maui and although we did receive a solid 4 star experience there, the Ko'a Kea is definitely a cut above. \n\nThe Ko'a Kea is NOT your typical Hawaiian big resort, seems to celebrate that it is NOT, and should be recognized for NOT being that. The staff and management really does seem to sincerely care about their guests which is not something you find everywhere (hardly anywhere actually). Even 5 star hotels don't have turn down service and reception events hosted by the general manager to introduce their staff, which the Ko'a Kea does.\n\nIt is hard to find a great hotel in Hawaii that is not your typical big resort and this place is that something special.","review_rating":5.0,"sentiment_class":"positive","sentiment_result":0.8981839,"sentiment_breakdown":[["My wife and I stayed at the Ko'a Kea for 4 nights while on Kauai for our honeymoon.",["positive",0.9725195]],["We loved the boutique feel of the Ko'a Kea as well as the 5 star service we received and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quieter boutique hotel with great service.",["positive",0.98887616]],["When we were deciding between this hotel and the Hyatt, we went with this one and certainly believe we made the right choice.",["positive",0.9530068]],["I can't say anything bad about the Hyatt because we didn't stay there but we did stay at the one in Maui and although we did receive a solid 4 star experience there, the Ko'a Kea is definitely a cut above.",["positive",0.9208597]],["The Ko'a Kea is NOT your typical Hawaiian big resort, seems to celebrate that it is NOT, and should be recognized for NOT being that.",["unknown",0.70109427]],["The staff and management really does seem to sincerely care about their guests which is not something you find everywhere (hardly anywhere actually).",["positive",0.87808603]],["Even 5 star hotels don't have turn down service and reception events hosted by the general manager to introduce their staff, which the Ko'a Kea does.",["positive",0.8530923]],["It is hard to find a great hotel in Hawaii that is not your typical big resort and this place is that something special.",["positive",0.91793644]]],"reviewer_fake_points":-20}

{"reviewer_id":"28F98306B79D3D297B82F54B70D0D4EB","reviewer_name":"Josh-n-Trixie","review_text":"For our first trip to Hawaii, we wanted to find a resort that would allow us to maximize our vacation style. This generally entails finding a patch of sandy beach, laying down in said patch of sandy beach, and not moving unless completely necessary. After reading the reviews here at Trip Advisor, Kauai certainly seemed to be the best island for us, and Ko'a Kea the best resort on the island. i am happy to report that Ko'a Kea definitely exceeded our expectations.\n\nBeing just the two of us, and traveling in the summer, we wanted a resort that wouldn't be saturated with families. Those resorts tend to be loud at all hours and finding a piece of sand where you wouldn't have to worry about flying clumps of sand smacking you in the face can be challenging. There were kids at the resort during our stay, but the smaller sized pool didn't draw their attention, and they were generally more attracted to jumping on a surf board than digging in the sand. If you're looking for a \"family friendly\" resort, I would say look elsewhere. The larger resorts in the Poipu Beach area were climbing with kids, so they would be a better option. But for a couple's retreat, the Ko'a Kea is the perfect choice.\n\nThe hotel is situated right between Kiahuna and Poipu beaches, which are connected by a boardwalk making them both very accessible. Poipu is more of the family beach (with lifeguards and sheltered shores), so we spent most of our time on Kiahuna. With its shallow beach and rough waves, it was mostly adults and body boarding kids - perfect for relaxation.\n\nWhen not in the sand, we lounged at the pool or grassy area on the hotel property. There is no \"beach\" on the property, with its rocky shores, but the grounds are beautifully maintained. We had a bit of rain during our stay, but they would change up the pads not he chairs so that they wouldn't be wet when you went to lounge. We ate almost every lunch at the pool bar, which had very good food and prompt service. We never had to leave our chairs.\n\nWe stayed in the Ocean Front Suite, and the views are absolutely spectacular. We would crack open the sliding doors to hear the waves crash against the shore (so close that it would drown out the sound of people walking by). Everything was kept very clean, and they provided everything you needed for a perfect stay. We especially appreciated that they would provided free bottled water twice a day, keeping us from having to venture to a store to buy our own. The Nespresso coffee maker was a nice touch as well. \n\nThe resort is located within walking distance to a shopping center, which has plenty of shops and restaurants, so you never feel isolated. Many people rent a car when visiting Kauai, but we never felt isolated without it. We walked on the beach to some of the great restaurants in the area, and only needed a ride to and from the airport (30 min). If you plan on being more adventurous, definitely rent a car.\n\nOverall, it was the perfect stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful when you needed them, but would not bother you unless you engaged. If you are looking for the perfect place to unwind with the one you love, this is the place to stay. We will definitely be returning.","review_rating":5.0,"sentiment_class":"positive","sentiment_result":0.8712918538709677,"sentiment_breakdown":[["For our first trip to Hawaii, we wanted to find a resort that would allow us to maximize our vacation style.",["positive",0.9299232]],["This generally entails finding a patch of sandy beach, laying down in said patch of sandy beach, and not moving unless completely necessary.",["positive",0.80559456]],["After reading the reviews here at Trip Advisor, Kauai certainly seemed to be the best island for us, and Ko'a Kea the best resort on the island.",["positive",0.98100054]],["i am happy to report that Ko'a Kea definitely exceeded our expectations.",["positive",0.9788375]],["Being just the two of us, and traveling in the summer, we wanted a resort that wouldn't be saturated with families.",["positive",0.90498924]],["Those resorts tend to be loud at all hours and finding a piece of sand where you wouldn't have to worry about flying clumps of sand smacking you in the face can be challenging.",["positive",0.9736481]],["There were kids at the resort during our stay, but the smaller sized pool didn't draw their attention, and they were generally more attracted to jumping on a surf board than digging in the sand.",["positive",0.9591021]],["If you're looking for a \"family friendly\" resort, I would say look elsewhere.",["unknown",0.57368404]],["The larger resorts in the Poipu Beach area were climbing with kids, so they would be a better option.",["unknown",0.4708359]],["But for a couple's retreat, the Ko'a Kea is the perfect choice.",["positive",0.9733961]],["The hotel is situated right between Kiahuna and Poipu beaches, which are connected by a boardwalk making them both very accessible.",["positive",0.95905364]],["Poipu is more of the family beach (with lifeguards and sheltered shores), so we spent most of our time on Kiahuna.",["positive",0.8964435]],["With its shallow beach and rough waves, it was mostly adults and body boarding kids - perfect for relaxation.",["positive",0.9836336]],["When not in the sand, we lounged at the pool or grassy area on the hotel property.",["positive",0.94430566]],["There is no \"beach\" on the property, with its rocky shores, but the grounds are beautifully maintained.",["positive",0.9693219]],["We had a bit of rain during our stay, but they would change up the pads not he chairs so that they wouldn't be wet when you went to lounge.",["positive",0.9631821]],["We ate almost every lunch at the pool bar, which had very good food and prompt service.",["positive",0.96274024]],["We never had to leave our chairs.",["positive",0.9016056]],["We stayed in the Ocean Front Suite, and the views are absolutely spectacular.",["positive",0.9107886]],["We would crack open the sliding doors to hear the waves crash against the shore (so close that it would drown out the sound of people walking by).",["unknown",0.6518433]],["Everything was kept very clean, and they provided everything you needed for a perfect stay.",["positive",0.9864543]],["We especially appreciated that they would provided free bottled water twice a day, keeping us from having to venture to a store to buy our own.",["positive",0.8207352]],["The Nespresso coffee maker was a nice touch as well.",["positive",0.9847039]],["The resort is located within walking distance to a shopping center, which has plenty of shops and restaurants, so you never feel isolated.",["positive",0.9457833]],["Many people rent a car when visiting Kauai, but we never felt isolated without it.",["positive",0.9748682]],["We walked on the beach to some of the great restaurants in the area, and only needed a ride to and from the airport (30 min).",["positive",0.8614953]],["If you plan on being more adventurous, definitely rent a car.",["positive",0.9336904]],["Overall, it was the perfect stay.",["positive",0.94321245]],["Everyone was friendly and helpful when you needed them, but would not bother you unless you engaged.",["unknown",0.78299105]],["If you are looking for the perfect place to unwind with the one you love, this is the place to stay.",["positive",0.92140657]],["We will definitely be returning.",["negative",0.16077738]]],"reviewer_fake_points":-100}
