owner showed us two rooms one was an apartment for 950 a night and one was more economical at 450 a night The economy room she showed us was quite nice overlooking the courtyard with lots of natural light and an ensuite She said it was 450 a night so we agreed to take it for 5 nights and paid a deposit of 2 nights nnWhen we turned up to check in however we were shown to a dark tiny little room just off the reception desk It had no windows at all was dark and miserable Plus it was very cold It had a toilet but no ensuite The shower was a communal one nnWe were told the shower was private just ours but this was a lie as it was communal and other rooms used it too To make things worse the shower did not even work properly It was burning scalding hot too hot to get under and then went stone cold My partner tried to adjust the thermostat but the fellow who worked there just watched him fiddle with it although did bring him a screwdriver San cristobal gets very cold and cold showers are a nightmare when it is that cold outside nnWe told the man at reception that we had been told we would have the room at the rear plus the shower did not work and that we had only paid 2 nights and might leave early He informed the owner who then knocked on our door at 11 at night demanding to discuss We were in bed so had to get up and dressed to talk to her Unbelievable We asked why we hadnt been given the room we were shown She shrugged and said other people were in it After she left I jumped online to check and sure enough the room she had shown us was in fact available and it was listed at 950 per night So she clearly never intended to let us have that room and when she showed us that room and said it was the more economical option she was lying nnAs for the shower she said that we had to find her and tell her when we wanted a shower and she would adjust the thermostat So this meant wandering around the hotel to find a staff member every time we wanted a shower I note from the website that the external bathroom is described as private This is not the case The shower we had was shared with at least one other roomnnOn top of this staff were very unfriendly and if you walked in past reception they wouldnt make eye contact let alone smilennThe bloke on the night shift would sit on the couch in reception all evening watching tv The tv was right outside our room so the whole evening you just had to listen to the night reception guy watching tellynnThe owner has a dog that she keeps in a small balcony on the top floor which barks all the time And the terrible tiny room near reception means that you hear all the noise from reception every time someone enters the hotel From seven in the morning onwards sleep is impossible In the evening youll just hear the night reception guy watching tv nnRoom was not serviced once in five days We had to go to reception when we needed more toilet paper or fresh towels For a stay of two or three nights this wouldnt bother me but for five nights without the bin being emptied or toilet paper restocked its a bit richnnSo it was noisy owner deliberately misled us about the room and demanded we discuss it with her at
