I requested a quote from Blue Door Painters on a Saturday and they called me back the following Monday. Although I appreciated the quick response, the response was not what I was looking for. My request for quote was for power washing, staining and sealing a 12x12 deck -- floor boards, joists and beams only. The Blue Door Painters representative asked me for the ball park price I was looking for. I said $200-$300, as I had a neighbor receive a similar quote from another company at that price. Blue Door Painter's first response was "we are not going to meet that price". I then asked "what would be a fair estimate," and they refused to give me one and said "we typically don't do jobs that small. " I replied with an "are you kidding me? " They then said "NO" -- very rudely. I said "Thanks, but not thanks" then hung up the phone. Not sure how you can get business by turning away customers and not even providing a rough estimate. That's all I was looking for. Also not sure why they were written up in the 2014 Loudoun 5 Stars Booklet. If there was 1 Star Booklet, maybe they should have reference, but that's stretching it. Highly recommend you stay away from this company because you probably won't even get any work out of them.  Read Less

We first contacted Blue Door for a quote on a house that we had just purchased---we wanted a few rooms touched up. Blue Door gave us a detailed proposal and we were confident about moving forward. Then we found out that we needed to do a lot of electrical work, so instead of painting the rooms according to the proposal, we had Blue Door wait on hold until the electrician finished ripping up the walls and ceilings.Blue Door gave us a second estimate for repair to the walls and ceilings. Blue Door provided us with a written estimate that precisely identified all painting to be done. The worked around our renovations schedule and handled the sudden curve-balls thrown by the electrician. They did an excellent job on the repair of the drywall. Items that we left in some of the rooms were moved aside or re-packed in the box that we had left. They did an excellent job on the painting and were very conscientious in addressing minor problems that we identified. Price was quite reasonable.We were very pleased with Blue Door's work. I've engaged painters on four different properties. Blue Door was the best. They were careful and responsive. They took off all of the plates before painting the walls. I would certainly use them again.  Read Less
