Catching up on some R & R and visited this restaurant for dinner and drinks. Lisa my waitress was very warm and pleasant. Hot fresh baked bread and warm butter is always a great way to start a meal!Seared scallops were very tasty, perfectly cooked and lightly seasoned. Not heavy and a perfect start to the meal. Smoked 14oz pork chop was absolutely smoky and delicious. Well seasoned and full of flavor. Paired with a glass merlot, buttery mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus was an excellent choice. Everything was cooked well and tasted great!For dessert, I decided on the vanilla bean creme brûlée with house made whip which was light and simply awesome. Not heavy at all and the hard caramel top was divine. If your in the area or visit this fabulous hotel, make a trip to 1796 room restaurant, you will not regret it.  Read Less

Fine dining prices without fine food.  Save your time and money.  I've eaten there many times over the years and recall the food always being reasonably good and prices fair.  I ate there the other evening for the first time in a while and it was a giant disappointment all around.  Pricing is ridiculously high and the food ordinary at best.  This was by far my worst dining experience there and I won't be going back.  Everything is al a carte and by the time you add a starter, side and main you are easily looking at $75 a head before drinks, dessert, taxes and tip.  My guest ordered a piece of fish and the portion was pathetically small, like a tiny piece of cooked sashimi.  My lamb was tough and vegetables undercooked.  I don't mind paying up on occasion for a good meal but in this instance - the food was a big letdown.  Avoid this place and avoid being ripped off.  It's too bad, I was looking forward to a nice meal.  Read Less
