Pros

Valley extension cord is great for macs and pcs. Allows you to add another 6' to your headphone cord, while still being able to use the mic. Works perfectly for connecting 4-pole devices to my laptop's headset port.

    But if the only sound equipment you have is a headset with a mic on it the linein port isnt going to help much

    Youre left with three options buy a preamp to put between your headphones and the linein port buy a pci sound card that includes a true mic port or find a way to use the headphone port
